PWA Fuerteventura freestyle event – July 25 to August 03 2024

The next big event of this season took place on the island of Fuerteventura and it was to be another stunning freestyle event with three JP riders in the TOP-10:
#3 – Yentel Caers – B-16
#5 – Sam Esteve – F-79
#9 – Nicolas Akgazciyan – F-400
Other riders to mention are Tigo Kort – NED-195 and Manolis Chrysopoulos – GRE-374: Congratulations to everybody !

Yentel Caers B-16 reports:
“Two weeks before the event started I arrived on Fuerte to be fully prepared and to adapt to the tricky conditions of the spot. During training I felt strong and ready for it and that I had the level to fight for the victory – especially in strong winds. Unfortunately, the event wasn’t blessed by the ‘full fuerte wind machine’. Don’t get me wrong: we still had amazing conditions but not as we strong as we are used to.

Day 1

On the first day the organizer’s plan was to finish the first round of the single elimination. For the whole day the conditions where looking epic. I was in the last heat late in the afternoon. Unfortunately the wind started to fade as it was getting evening. So, my heat didn’t get the strong wind I was hoping for. Still, I had a good heat (33.5 points) and passed the round.

Day 2

This day we would see the single elimination getting completed. Passing through my heats with 30.6 and 32.8 points to the semi final. Here I achieved 37.6 points but still got stopped by Neubauer. This put me into the B final with team mate Sam Esteve. Stoked to be winning that one with 32.8 points and finishing 3th in this single elimination!”

Yentel Caers B-16 continues:

Day 3

“Waiting in the final round, we –the top 4 riders of the single elimination– got a lay day and watched a big big part of the double elimination. Some young talents and also some big ‘old’ names fought to climb up the later, like Kiri, Gollito, Steven but all got stopped by Balz Crazy Muller.

Day 4

was finals day. After such a good run yesterday, I was happy to stop Muller’s run with 32.3 points and put a good show on together in the heat.

Next one was Lennart again. Unfortunately –with wind dropping and being slightly underpowered on 4,8– I once more could not find my favourite conditions. Nevertheless, I managed to score 35.1 points, but missing only 1 point to make the final.

So, 3th place for me – once again: Stoked to be on every podium on Fuerte since 2016 💪

Sam Esteve F-79 – 5th

Sam stormed through the elimination like a hot knife cuts through butter.
In most heats F-79 simply sailed flawless, racking up points with ease with his great repertoire of tricks, mostly scoring more than 30 points.
5th – phantastic sailing, Sam !

Nico Akgazciyan F-400 – 9th

Nico is back to old form … and made it to the top-10 again: the French rider, who competed in PWA events already before the later winner was born, is in top shape.
In all his heats F-400 scored well over 20 points, mostly in the high 20s with 31.2 points as his top score. For sure an impressive performance, Nico !

Tigo Kort NED-195

During the heats of this event, Tigo managed improve his sailing performance in each round, collecting more and more points with his highest score of 25.5.

Manolis Chrisopoulos GRE-374

The young and motivated Greek sailor had a good time on the island of Fuerteventura and some really good heats: Thumbs up, solid sailing, Manolis !
