Sebastian Kornum DEN-24 returns from injury and reports
from
the Multivan Windsurf Cup (= German tour), Sankt Peter-Ording, 16-18 July.

After not competing for a very long time due to Covid-19 and my injury, I was really excited to be back this weekend to test my form against a solid fleet of fast riders.

In racing, I was happy to be consistently fighting up front. It was especially great to battle with Vincent Langer again, my longtime rival. I did not expect to have such a tight battle with him already now at my first comeback event. My gear: the NP Flight Evo II 9.0 and the JP HydroFoil Course Racing. After 5 foil races I ended up in second – just missing the top position by 0,3 points! It was so tight that the top step of the podium was in reach, but on the other hand I am just very happy that I managed to be 2nd and that I could show my racing instincts are still alive.

In slalom, I also enjoyed some really close battles with Vincent, Dennis and Michelle in perfect onshore ocean conditions. I used 6.6 EVO12 on Slalom 71 and had really good speed. We did 3 full slalom eliminations and it was good fun! Thinking back, I made one really big mistake in the first final as I was actually leading the entire race till the very last jibe. I was tired and wanted to slow down and not make any mistakes, but I slowed down too much and left the door open for Dennis to overtake me. I think I need some more hours on the fin to get more relaxed and efficient. Speed was not missing but I held on too tight and got tired. Finally, I finished 3rd in Slalom.

The Richter boys from the JP/NP team were also there – super nice guys, and these young fellows already performed great! (see photo below).
