PWA Youth Slalom World Cup 2026

Four days of world-class youth windsurfing!

strong performances from Diederik Leemans and Mario Boekstegers 🥈🥉

As the second stop on the five-event PWA Youth & Junior Slalom World Tour, the competition attracted 30 young athletes from nine nations across the Caribbean, America, Europe and Asia.

The event featured racing across multiple age divisions (U13, U15, U17 and U21) in both Fin and Foil Slalom disciplines. Perfect Caribbean conditions greeted the fleet throughout the week, with consistent trade winds of 18 to 25 knots providing ideal racing conditions on the turquoise waters.

Diederik Leemans and Mario Boekstegers delivered outstanding performances throughout the event, showcasing their talent and consistency in both Fin and Foil Slalom.

In the U21 Boys’ Fin division, Diederik Leemans (NED) secured a well-deserved podium finish, completing the top three after successfully fending off a late surge from Mario Boekstegers. Our JP Team rider maintained his composure under pressure to claim third place in a fiercely competitive fleet.

Meanwhile, Mario Boekstegers (GER) staged an impressive comeback after a challenging opening day. The German JP athlete bounced back strongly on Day 2, claiming two bullets from the three eliminations and putting himself firmly in podium contention. His late charge on the final day made for a thrilling finish, ultimately securing fourth place in the Fin division and demonstrating his ability to compete at the highest level.

Both riders also excelled in the U21 Boys’ Foil Slalom, where Leemans and local favorite Tycho Smits engaged in a thrilling head-to-head battle throughout the event. Leemans held a narrow lead after Day 2, with the two riders continually exchanging bullets and second places. However, Smits gained the upper hand on Day 3 to claim victory, while Mario Boekstegers secured third place overall in the Foil standings with a series of consistent third-place finishes.

Big congratulations to Diederik Leemans and Mario Boekstegers on their impressive performances and podium finishes!

With the PWA Youth & Junior Slalom Tour now on a summer break, the new generation of windsurfing talent will return to action in Denmark in September.
We are thrilled to see what comes next.
