Charlie and Lewis challenged themselves to paddle board across the English Channel on JP-Australia inflatables to raise funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. They started this project with the release of an online community for fund raising whilst they trained their skills and physical conditions to be able to cross the water barrier. After several tries, in July/18 they finally concluded their mission, arriving in France after very challenging conditions!
These men from Norfolk had the idea for this project to support their local lifeboat institution. “It’s all in the name of charity the money raised will go directly to the work of the RNLI is Sheringham. Everybody in Norfolk enjoys our wonderful coastline and we owe a lot to the lifeboat for keeping us and our loved ones safe”, claims their official fund raising page profile.
After several months of training and planning to be able to go across the channel in September/2017, they had to delay the challenge for the next year due to bad conditions. The winter would not allow them to try again soon, yet they kept the excitement and hard work to make it. They would have to wait until the next year, in July, when the conditions were better, notwithstanding very rough.
On the 6th day of July they finally published the news that everyone was waiting for: they have finished the trip from Dungeness to Boulogne, in France! They proudly reached the European continent riding their CruisAirs. Congratulations, dudes! Some pictures of their crossing can be seen below (credits to Paddle the Channel on Facebook):

We're still struggling to put into words just how mad this whole experience has been and whilst the conditions, especially toward the end, didn't allow for grabbing loads of footage across the Channel, we've managed to scrape together a few clips to give you an insight in to what was a surreal and hectic couple of days! We're going to leave the donation page going for another month before announcing the grand total raised for Sheringham Lifeboat Station but we're thrilled to say that we're soaring past £5,500!www.justgiving.com/paddlethechannel2018Norfolk SUP Club // JP-Australia SUP // Mystic // Sowerbys // Satchells of Burnham Market // Iridium Communications // Grindstore.com // RNLI // SUP Tonic // SUP International Magazine // Woodlands Leisure // Full Throttle Boat Charters
