The new German Champion Nico Prien GER-7 reports:

Sylt – 23.-28. July

I’m extremely proud to announce that I became International German Windsurfing Champion 2019 ! This has been my main goal since many years and I want to thank all of you for being on my side and giving great support.

From last Tuesday until Sunday we competed in the legendary windsurfing venue of Sylt. We had absolute tropical and thrilling conditions and managed to sail 10 hydrofoil races and 7 slalom eliminations.

In hydrofoiling -officilally called “Racing”- I was able to defend my title from last year with a dominating performance as I won 9 out of 10 races! So, German HydroFoil Champion, again.

In Slalom it was very tight: Until the penultimate elimination I also was in striking distance for the title as well – but it did not happen. The 3rd place in slalom was enough for my first
German Champion Overall title, hence the 3 medals on the photo (above).

After 5 days on the water, pretty much from tusk till dawn, my body is screaming for recovery. Mentally and physically it was probably the gnarliest event I’ve done so far.

I’m so stoked that all the work paid off and that my equipment is working so well.

All the best,

Nico Prien – German Champion Racing 2019 (=Foil), German Champion Overall 2019 and 3rd in Slalom
Great sailing also from Luis Ponseti GER-293 who finished 9th Overall and
Christian Justensen DEN-26 who only competed in the Racing Discipline and finished 2nd in this HydroFoil class – so, Christian is German Vice Champion Racing 2019.
